Year 6, Unit 2 place a strong emphasis on craft and the importance of developing a full set of design and presentation skills, particularly hand drawing, considered by the unit to be the most simple and fundamentalskill required for an architect. The unitwas joined by esteemed Glasgow basedartist Patricia Cain. Formally a lawyer, Patriciais an artist, author and researcher whocompleted a PhD through the practice ofdrawing at Glasgow School of Art. Patricia held a workshop with the students whichexplored the relationship between drawingand enactive thinking, examining how artmakingcan allow architects to becomeself-aware of their own thinking and learningprocesses. The workshop involved varioustasks including drawing from memory, challenging the students to think about theway in which they observe and respond toobjects through drawing.
