Scottish Housing Exposition: Prefabrication
Stage 2 Architectural Technology
Lecturers
Jonathan Scott
Tahar Kouider

This projects focuses on modern (new) housing in the form of a Housing Exposition similar to those taking place across Europe. The project involved four ‘zones’ in which the students were split into four large groups. The different groups investigated and analysed four topical areas in housing construction, namely; Innovative Materials; Passive Solar Design; Zero Carbon Housing, and; Prefabrication.

In this group the students investigated and developed housing with that adopted Prefabrication and/or Standardisation. In this group the students were investigating larger scale construction using prefabricated elements throughout. For much of the development of these projects, high thermal values and zero carbon principles were also key decision makers.
