This project focuses on a key infrastructure project – in particular the new Harbour Expansion for Aberdeen. As part of a sustainable and diverse future economy, Aberdeen is seeking to develop the new harbour alongside existing and developing ferry services to the Islands, Scandinavia and, in future, further afield. As such, the project will incorporate a terminal facility to cater to international visitors.

This project is a signature project and should be treated as architecturally significant but highly secure and functional. Additionally, as with the rest of the harbour proposals the project contributed towards a low carbon ideology – In particular the proposals are as close to ʻzero carbonʼ as possible.

A standing arrangement is that a BREEAM and/or similar rating of excellent should also be aspired too for all building types within the development. The terminal was to cater for the excellent transport links and incorporate not only the disembarkation of visitors but links into town which will include Train, Bus and Car (with the proposed links to the AWPR).
